The Tonsley Innovation District in Adelaide has released an Expression of Interest to find hospitality operators to run out of its 1960s-built Boiler House.
Tonsley project director Daniel Redden says, “Our vision for the Boiler House is to attract a microbrewer, distiller, restaurateur, café operator or similar to establish an offering in the unique and iconic building, capitalising on the established and growing business, residential and student populations nearby. We actually expect it will be a really exciting social and entertainment hub for the southern Adelaide region, as well as a great example of adaptive reuse, which Tonsley is already highly recognised for.Boiler House at Tonsley to become social and entertainment hub of southern Adelaide region.”
In addition to submissions from hospitality operators, developers are being sought to redevelop the building and its landscaped surrounds.
In 2018, work will start on a residential development to build 850 homes for 1,200 residents within the district. Further retail developments are planned for the area surrounding the Boiler House, including a supermarket as anchor tenant, speciality stores and services such as a fitness centre.
